Since the Internet is, amongst others, one of the largest and most diverse markets, ads help spread the news about products in web pages you visit. This is where specialized applications like GT-Soft Ad Blocker come in handy and get rid of annoying ads, making your browsing experience smooth and comfortable.
The application comes with its own window and doesn't rely on integration with your web browser. Its functions are stored in a compact main window, with no shiny visual elements, keeping things simple. You can only choose to block or allow ads simply by pressing the corresponding homonimous buttons.
You also gain access to several additional options. A separate window lets you decide whether or not to block YouTube, Google and HULU ads. In order for this to take effect you need to hit the “Block Ads” button one more time.
However, tested on Windows 8, features didn't quite live up to expectations, even if only one web browser or more were installed. For example, on YouTube the browser was still populated with commercial banners, regardless of the web browser used.
What's more, the only way to get aid in case you consider something went wrong is online, and apparently the homepage can no longer be accessed. The core function of the application is modifying the Hosts file to block specific content, with access denial to the file sometimes being the cause of the blocking issues.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that GT-Soft Ad Blocker could have been a powerful application if more effort was put into development. The complete lack of browser integration makes it practical, quick, eliminating the possibility of incompatibility options with browser updates.
