GT Tracker

Being aware of how much time you spent on a task allows you to find ways to optimize your workload. To do so, you need a reliable time tracking application that can be used for logging the amount of time spent on any activity, be it work-related or not. One good option is GT Tracker, a handy application designed for personal time tracking.

GT Tracker features a user-friendly and rather simplistic interface where all the past or present tasks are displayed, in chronological order. You start by creating a new task and specifying its name, its description and, optionally, a hyperlink (e.g. app repository) related to that particular task. One feature worth mentioning is that GT Tracker can offer task suggestions, allowing you to choose between active applications, as well as recent or favorite tasks.   While usually you will log and track tasks that are about to run, keep in mind that it is also possible to create entries for completed tasks in GT Tracker.

Once a task is created, it is highlighted in the list of tasks from the main window and the timer is started. GT Tracker displays the time interval between the start and the end of a task, but you can modify these times from the context menu. In other words, you are free to shorten or extend the time allocated to a task and modify the starting point. The total amount of time spent on a task and the total time spent on all tasks are also displayed.

While the interface is not cluttered at all, you should know that GT Tracker also comes with a so-called “compact mode”, which shrinks the main window, hiding the list of tasks. Nevertheless, you can easily reverse to the normal mode whenever you want to.

GT Tracker is a reliable tool for keeping track of the time you spent on on-going tasks. It is easy to use and it can generate task reports. The list of tasks, exactly as it appears within the main window, can be easily exported as a HTML file, a PDF document or a CSV file. Alternatively, you can copy the data to the clipboard with the push of a button.
