GtkHash

GtkHash provides a simple hash checksum generator that enables you to check the integrity of files on your PC. Providing support for various hash functions, this application makes it possible to check out hash codes for files, directories or text.

As the function of GtkHash is only to reveal hash codes, it is only expected for it to feature a simple interface with even simpler options.

The application comes in two editions: an installer-based one and a standalone one, the latter allowing you to launch GtkHash without having to go through a setup process. The main window is revealed as soon as you double-click on the main executable.

GtkHash is intuitive and easy to use. The first thing you need to do is select the file you want to analyze by browsing your PC. Unfortunately, drag and drop is not supported.

As soon as a file is selected, the “Hash” button in the lower side of the window is toggled active. Pressing it will instruct GtkHash to calculate all the checksums and display the results in the designated fields.

By default, GtkHash displays MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and CRC32 hash codes, but additional support is provided for more hash functions, which you can select in the “Preferences” window. As you select more hash functions, the main window is customized to integrate them all.

With support for keyed hashing, remote file access and multi-threaded hash calculation, GtkHash is a simple yet fast hash tool that can compute message digests and file checksums. With its help, you can easily verify the authenticity of files you receive by comparing the unique hash codes to the ones of the original.
