Should you be interested, the world of anime and manga is perhaps the easiest it’s ever been to explore. Owing to the numerous available resources that allow you to tap into these mediums, all that stands between you and finding your new favorite work is the free time you can devote to this pastime.
Those who are after a software solution for all of their manga and anime needs might want to try out HakuNeko, which seeks to connect them to various websites, enabling them to enjoy their favorite animanga content from a single interface.
Before anything else, it should be noted that HakuNeko acts as an intermediary between the user and the anime or manga websites they wish to access, and as such is not a hosting platform or anything of the sort. This means that you may run into some websites that refuse to cooperate, but thankfully there are plenty of resources to go around.
Access the Connectors menu to look for any website that is of interest to you. Each website is tagged to ensure a smoother process, so don't hesitate to use that functionality to get to your content.
Once synchronized, your chosen website’s manga or anime database should appear on the main interface. From this point on, enjoying your favorite content is as easy as clicking it. You can watch and read everything online, or download it for later. Optionally, you may also bookmark certain chapters or episodes to revisit them anytime.
Though a user could very well omit looking through the Settings menu — as the defaults work well enough on their own — its overall configurability is nevertheless worth pointing out. You can modify the way requests are handled, as well as change the format and resolution of the displayed content, among other things.
Aside from that, a small complaint I have is related to the time it takes for some websites to synchronize. This is likely a domain-specific problem more than anything, but it can make exploring certain websites’ collections a little cumbersome. Still, you won’t need to repeat the process for already-synced ones, so there’s that.
HakuNeko provides a lot of convenience for the end user. Being able to watch anime and read manga from the same interface is indeed quite neat, and the included bookmarking and downloading functionalities are very useful in their own right.
