It would take you a considerable amount of time to manually check the integrity of a file. However, a computer uses a dedicated method, and that's to verify and compare hash codes, and you can benefit from this operation using the right applications. Hash Checker is a suitable example in this regard.
First of all, it's a good idea to check whether or not your computer is fitted with .NET Framework to ensure functionality, even though modern Windows iterations come with it in the default set of features. On the other hand, the application requires no installation, so you can have it stored and used from a thumb drive.
Second, the application is of little to no use to you if you don't have at least a hash code at hand, or better yet a hash file. As the name states, the program's core function is to verify a file according to the hash code, and not to generate one. There's also the possibility to verify codes of files inside an entire directory altogether.
As mentioned, one of the input methods is a folder, while another is to use a hash file which can be under formats like SFV (for CRC32), MD5, SHA, SHA1, SHA256, SHA 384, and SHA512. Paying a visit to the options menu also lets you associate the application with these file formats so it opens them by default.
Moreover, the options menu also allows you to have any supported hash code inside the clipboard read, so you don't have to rely on a file for verification. The log shows all gathered info. You can set thread priority to maximize speed of operation. Output can be set to display either checksum file entries, full names, or filenames only. Result needs to be manually copied, because there's no built-in export option.
All things considered, we can state that Hash Checker isn't really a complete checksum management tool, but is sure to come in handy for checking an abundance of files with little effort. It's best to look for a hash calculator first, while this application can even read checksums of various algorithms directly from the clipboard.
