HEXtreme

HEXtreme is a handy, free tool that lets you dive right into files using a hexadecimal display. You can also edit the code and save your changes! It supports color-coded hex, and you can even work with files that are up to 4GB in size.

Easy File Viewing

The interface might look a bit old-school, but it's super simple to use. You have a basic menu bar and toolbar where you can drag and drop files right into the main window to see their hex code. Plus, it supports multiple tabs so you can open several files at once and switch between them with ease.

Edit with Ease

With HEXtreme, editing text is a breeze! You can search for hex, ASCII, or Unicode strings using a straightforward search function. If you need to jump to a specific address in the file, that's easy too! You can customize how much information you see by adjusting bits per line or hiding addresses. Want to show only hex or ASCII? You got it! Plus, you can even set colors for normal text, selected text, backgrounds, and addresses in your hex code.

Customize Your Experience

You can save your favorite color schemes and make the main window as clean as possible by hiding tools like the search bar or status bar. HEXtreme also lets you pick different UI themes. When you're done editing, you have options: overwrite the original file or create a new one. You can even print your document!

Print Options Galore

Before printing, preview your file to check everything looks good. Set your paper size and orientation easily! If you've got a virtual printer installed on your computer, you can generate PDFs instead of using physical paper copies. And if you mess up? No worries; just hit undo! Oh yeah, keyboard shortcuts are supported too!

Light on Resources

In our tests, HEXtreme didn't drain system resources — it uses low CPU and RAM. It works well with newer versions of Windows without compatibility issues. Just keep in mind that there haven't been updates for a while. While there's no help documentation available, most features are pretty intuitive if you've got some basic experience with hex editors.
