Keeping your information private and away from prying eyes can be achieved by multiple means nowadays. When it comes to folders, you either go with the system's folder lock feature — which is not the strongest — or with third-party folder lockers, if you are willing to spend some money. However, there's another way to do that, cheaper and secure enough to take away your concern, and that by hiding the folders. Yes, there is a way of hiding folders from within the OS, but Hide Folders can do a better job, as it keeps all your invisible items in check, so you won't have to waste time verifying locations in case you forget the hidden directories.
When you lock a folder behind a password, you should consider there's a slight chance of somebody cracking that combination and stealing your data. When the folder is hidden, it's very hard for anyone to know about its existence.
But that doesn't mean that whoever is snooping around your machine can find the Hide Folders and reveal your folders anyway? Yes, that's a possibility, but you can restrict access to the app's UI with a password. To ensure the password is not cracked, you can remove the app from the program list, making it no so obvious.
To hide one or more directories, you must add them to the list. After that, check their boxes to hide them. Hiding a folder will change its state from visible to hidden, and to apply the changes, just go to the folder's location and refresh it. Unchecking the box will turn your folders visible again, and a refresh is for this as well.
To conclude, hiding your folders might not be the best security measure ever, but if you are not willing to pay for professional software with high-end encryption algorithms, Hide folders has you covered.
