If you are into technology, computer science, information and cyber security, then chances are you know all about the popular social news website named Hacker News.

Even more so, if you are one of its many faithful readers, then you might already be a bit fed up of having multiple Hacker News tabs opened in your web browser.

One relevant solution to your current predicament comes in the form of HNClient which, as you already may have guessed based on its name, is an unofficial Hacker News client that enables you to access the feed and read articles that are of interest to you directly from your computer's desktop.

The application does not require any type of installation and, therefore, you can start browsing the HN feed in just a few seconds. Probably the first thing that you will notice is the utility's modern interface.

By default, the main window is split into two main parts, the feed on the left and the reader on the right. From the app's toolbar, you can also customize the main window layout by choosing to only view the website's feed and the reader, to see the feed, the reader and the foldable comments section, or only the news feed and the comments sections.

From the drop down menu from the upper left side of the main window, you can customize your feed according to your preferences. You can choose to view the top stories, the newest stories, the highest voted recent links, the most active current discussions or the submissions from new users.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that the app makes it possible for you to directly open links with your default web browser, copy links to your computer's clipboard and use Readability (a popular add-in for Firefox, Chrome and Safari) to make the article more streamlined and easier to read.

Taking everything into consideration, HNClient proves itself to be very functional and useful client for Hacker News that looks right at home on the latest iterations of Windows and can even work on macOS and Linux.

While it is hard to critique this stylish Electron-based app, we would like to say that we would have liked it even more if it would allow you to directly comment on the Hacker News articles and if it would have offered instant social media sharing capabilities.
