Host File Manager

Host File Manager is a tiny and portable piece of software that you can use to modify the Windows Hosts files and block suspicious addresses which attempt to connect to your computer. Although it is clearly designed for users with experience in network utilities, the app has just a few options that are easy to set up.

The setup procedure takes minimal time and effort. Host File Manager is packed in a user-friendly interface which consists of a regular frame with a classical structure.

Al you have to do is point out a host name, IP address to redirect it to, alias and comment, and add it to the list which holds all entries. It is possible to edit host properties, delete entries, enable and disable them, as well as to copy data to the Clipboard for closer examination.

Host File Manager also implements an option to discard all changes and to back up the Hosts file in case you encounter any network connectivity issues and need to restore the original Hosts configuration. In the status bar you can view the total number of hosts added to the list, along with the file size. There are no other notable options available here.

We have not come across any kind of difficulties throughout our testing, since Host File Manager did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. It has a good response time and runs on low CPU and RAM, so it does not affect the overall performance of the machine.

Host File Manager features few options but we must also take into account that it has not been updated for a long time. Compared to other Host file managers, this one is pretty easy to work with.
