Hosty

There are various relatively accessible ways to manage host files on your machine, be it a Windows or a Linux PC, or a Mac. However, if you find yourself in the situation where you have to edit or manage host files on multiple occasions, it might be a good idea to employ a specialized application in order to improve productivity.

Meet Hosty, a streamlined, Electron-based and cross-platform app (works on all major OSes) that, as its name suggests, allows you to edit, manage, and even import and export hosts with the least amount of effort.

As with most Electron apps, Hosty too can be deployed quite easily on your computer thanks to a typical, automated installation procedure. The interface is modern and intuitive, therefore, getting to know your way around this app shouldn't take more than a few seconds, at most.

The app's main and only window is split into two main sections as follows: the left side is the place where you can organize your host files in groups, while the right side is the place where you can create new hosts or edit already existing ones.

Importing and exporting host files can be dealt with relatively easily directly from the File menu, on the upper left side of the main window. Sadly there's no way of exporting your host files to other formats apart from the app's specific one. There's also a simplistic Settings section from where you can enable or disable the dark theme, and that's really about it.

Taking everything into account, Hosty is a reasonably nice application that, even though it's not exactly impressive in any particular way, it provides a good looking and arguably more functional environment for managing your host files.
