ICQ is a handy macOS app that helps you keep in touch with friends across various social networks like Facebook, Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, and Gtalk. You can even send SMS messages or make video and voice calls right from your desktop!
First things first: to use ICQ, you need to create an account. Just provide a phone number or a valid email address for confirmation. After that, you're all set!
Once you have your account ready, open the ICQ desktop app and log in using your credentials. You can also choose which services you'd like to activate through the app’s Settings window. A cool feature of ICQ is that it lets you manage multiple accounts at the same time.
ICQ works like most instant messaging apps. To chat with someone, just add them to your contact list. The app will create separate lists for contacts linked to each social account.
The main window of ICQ has two sections: on the left side, you'll see your contacts list, while the right side is where you can send text messages or make voice and video calls.
You can call mobile phones or landlines using ICQ but remember certain rates are involved, so setting up a payment plan is necessary.
ICQ keeps you in the loop with both visual and audio notifications! You can customize how these alerts work through the Settings window. Get notified when friends come online or when there’s a new message waiting for you.
This app really centralizes access to all your social networks. It makes tracking your friends’ activities much easier! Use it to send texts or SMS messages, make voice calls to real phone numbers, and more.
