iMail is a straightforward desktop email client that makes emailing feel more like chatting on your favorite messaging apps. It cuts out all the extra fluff and helps you keep your inbox organized without any fuss.
The app has this cool ‘people’ view where you can see a list of all your contacts. Just click on any contact to check out every message sent or received from them. Plus, you can add multiple email addresses for each person and even give them fun nicknames!
Another handy feature is the ‘conversation’ view, which shows each email thread separately. This way, it’s super easy to keep track of important topics without digging through everything.
iMail really shines when it comes to handling attachments! You can sort them by type, name, size, sender, or date. You can even find the messages they were attached to or upload them directly to Dropbox!
Keep in mind that iMail only lets you manage one account at a time. If you decide to switch accounts, all your local data gets wiped clean automatically—so be careful with that.
This app doesn’t load all your emails at once either. You’ll need to add the rest of them in batches of 100—definitely not ideal if you have a lot of messages!
If you want to send a new message, you can write a quick reply or open up the Compose window for more options. But here’s the catch: once that window is open, you can't do anything else until it’s closed or the message is sent.
When sorting your messages, iMail may leave you wanting more. It shows favorites first and new emails next while putting read messages last—sorted by date only. Unfortunately, there's no way to sort all emails by when they were received or assign labels.
If you're on the hunt for an uncomplicated email client that covers basic needs, then iMail might just do the trick! However, it lacks some advanced features and could use a few tweaks before we’d recommend it for everyone.
