Writing solutions are plentiful, and users have a plethora of options to choose from when looking for a word processor. If you've got the inspiration, you can even write your stuff in the most bare-bones text editor out there, and still manage to do good work.
A good word processor, however, can greatly speed up work and empower your work. Microsoft Word is perhaps the default option for many — and for good reason — but if you're looking to write a novel, a solution expressly geared towards that kind of writing would be more of use. INDE Writer is such a program, and it's got a varied toolset that especially accommodates seasoned fiction writers, but is nevertheless welcoming to any aspiring authors out there.
While MS Word or some online service can and will handle your text just fine, utilizing a more specialized tool for your work can prove to be quite beneficial. This program was designed to facilitate the writing of novels, helping users by providing a dependable platform to support their every step of the process.
The interface is practical, and any function that you would want to utilize is within arm's reach. Ready-made templates for your future book's front and back sections, along with acknowledgements, introduction, and prologue sections for the front, as well as epilogue, author's notes, and back matter segments for the rear.
If you're looking to write chapters that will stay at the front of your readers' minds for a while — for ten years, at least — this tool has got you covered. The Chapters tab affords users the possibility to cleanly write their novel on a chapter-by-chapter basis, as well as keep track of all the elements of their fictitious world: characters, places, things, events, and miscellaneous stuff can be recalled at a glance through the References menu.
A more-than-useful addition is also the Scraps panel, which gives users a space to jot down their fleeting, spur-of-the-moment thoughts that may occur during the writing process.
The Guild menu is a forum of sorts, where users can chat with one another and share ideas. Aside from that, The Marketplace is supposed to contain useful information about editors, reviewers, publishers, ghostwriters, and so on — but it doesn't seem fully functional just yet. Nevertheless, it does look like a promising undertaking.
As for publishing one's book, the Publisher interface makes it easy to export your writing. You can choose to publish as ePub, RTF, HTML, and Plain Text, and what's especially helpful here is that the software lends you a hand in all of this — it explains why and how each format is used. Previews to ensure that your writing is properly spaced on tablets, smartphones, and eReaders are also accessible via the bottom part of the interface. Saving your work to the cloud is possible right from the app's interface.
The program also facilitates formatting your writing, in an effort to keep everything consistent. Sections such as the book info, title page, copyright page, chapters, scenes, and so on, can be readily configured.
INDE Writer is quite the full-fledged solution for writers: not only does it provide numerous facilities to empower seasoned and casual writers alike, but it also brings everything together within an accessible and dependable interface.
