The Doc2Tiff application was designed to be a small utility that converts Microsoft Word documents to multipage or serialized single-page TIFF files, also BMP, PNG, GIF, JPEG, and PDF files. Unlike other such utilities, the conversion by Doc2Tiff is done without a printer driver, which, by unknown suppliers, so often cause problems to the system.

The command-line consists of up to seven (4) main argument elements. The elements are separated by a semi-colon. Unused lagging elements may be left blank. Optional fifth and sixth argument elements are available for advanced use, but generally not needed. It is available for special TIFF compressions, customized image sizes and resolutions, and for post-execution Applications to be Launched.

Source file name The source file name is the only compulsory input. Do not encapsulate the file name. The name must NOT include semi-colons (semi-colons are used for argument separators). The file must be a Microsoft Word supported document file. Use the full path name. Make sure that the source file is not in use by another application.

Output file name Optional. If not specified, the output file name will be copied from the source file name with the extension changed to ‘.tif’ or the extension specified in the File Format dropdown list. The extension must be one of the following: .tif, .pdf, .bmp, .gif, .png, or .jpg. If the extension is incorrect, a ‘.tif’ extension will be used and the output file will be in the TIFF format. Use the full path name. Make sure that the output file name is not in use by another application.

Resolution Optional. If not specified, the resolution will be defaulted to 200x200. Not available for PDF output. GIF output will always be at a 96x96 resolution. Use a resolution that is compatible with the output format; some resolution values are not supported by some graphics formats and you may get an Save error.

Tag The fourth argument element is a string of 1-7 letters, without space or separators. Each letter represents a property switch. The letters can be in any order, upper-case or lower-case.
