Inptools

Inptools is a handy software that combines the latest version of EPANET with some cool documentation and extra tools. These tools help you work with EPANET INP files more easily. If you want to get started, just right-click on any INP file in Windows Explorer, and you'll see the Inptools context menu pop up!

Convert EPANET INP Files

One of the neat features is the inp2shp command. This tool takes your EPANET INP files and turns them into shape files. Why? Well, these shape files can be used for more processing with GIS software. It’s super useful if you’re working on mapping or analyzing water networks.

Create INP Files from Shape Files

On the flip side, we have the shp2inp command. This allows you to convert a set of shape files that represent a water network back into an EPANET INP file. Once you have your new INP file, you can use it for hydraulic analysis in EPANET. It’s like flipping between two worlds!

Projecting Coordinates

If you're dealing with different coordinate systems, check out the inpproj command. This command helps convert (or project) an INP file that uses Gauß-Krüger coordinates (GK3) into a fresh new INP file that uses geographic coordinates (WGS84). It's pretty straightforward and saves time!

Export Results to CSV

You can also use epanet2csv, which turns an EPANET binary result file into two CSV files. These CSVs are great because they can be opened in spreadsheet software like OpenOffice Calc or Excel, as well as relational database software such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and even GIS software.
