Interactive Practical Histology

Interactive Practical Histology is designed to help students learn how to use histological slides. It does this by providing a database of images grouped in multiple categories.

Based on an interactive slideshow layout, this program tests your knowledge about how cells anatomy, tissues, and glands of animals work. What it does extra, however, is to provide an extensive database of photos and medical information to all those interested in this branch of medicine.

This program is split mostly into two, if we are to exclude information about the author and the app's disclaimers. The first is a 'Watch Slides' option which allows the users to start surfing the application, and the other is a 'Test Yourself' mode which lets students test their histology knowledge.

Other than that, there aren't any extra options that might be present in this program. The most complex feature is, however, the histology database that presents the user with a wide list of organs to be studied. These come in five categories with each separated in other, smaller ones that students can access.

In case users might get lost while surfing the wide database of glands, muscles, and skin tissues, they can access an index of all chapters and find the subject of their study. They can go back to the home screen.

Although the overall GUI implementation is solid and does its job, not so much effort has been invested in the app's production values. Some pictures are heavily pixelated and buttons have weird color schemes applied to them. Nevertheless, they work if that matters most.

Interactive Practical Histology does exactly what its title says: it teaches and tests students by interactive means with picture-rich slideshows, extra information, and advanced histology biological trees, all built in a slightly confusing interface.
