Description
ipfw32
ipfw32 is a handy firewall software that’s backed by FreeBSD and created by volunteer staff members from the FreeBSD community. If you’re ready to get started, make sure to extract it to D:\\binary\\, or you can tweak the syntax in wall.cmd.
Installation on Windows Machines
This directory has all the binaries you need to install and use IPFW and DUMMYNET right on your Windows computer. The kernel part operates as an NDIS module, while the user interface runs through a command line program.
Setting Up Your Network Card
To set everything up, follow these steps:
- Open the configuration panel for your network card. You can do this by right-clicking on its icon in the SYSTRAY or heading over to Control Panel -> Network and picking one of your cards.
- Click on Properties -> Install -> Service -> Add.
- Select 'Driver Disk' and find netipfw.inf in this folder.
- You should see 'ipfw+dummynet' as the only service available—select it.
- If there are any warnings about installing an unknown driver, just click accept (you might have to do this twice for each existing network card).
Your Emulator is Ready!
You’re all set to use the emulator now! To configure it, just open a command prompt window where you can type in the ipfw command. Or if you prefer, click on the 'TESTME.bat' file; it’s a batch program that will run some tests for you.
Troubleshooting Your Network Card
If you need to remove anything later, here’s what to do:
- Select your network card as mentioned earlier.
- Click on Properties.
- Select 'ipfw+dummynet'.
- Hit 'Remove'.
