ipidscan is a cool project that works as a port scanner using the ip.id method. If you’re curious, this method was first mentioned by antirez on Bugtraq back on December 15, 1998. Can you believe it? The first public port scanner I know of was shared on Bugtraq just a little later, on December 3, 1999. And guess what? This program came out in response to that on December 4, 1999!
The neat thing about this scanner is that it doesn’t directly reach out to the target host. That means it's super hard to trace back! Pretty clever, right?
