Isoinfo is a handy tool that gives you all the juicy details about an iso9660 image. If you've ever wondered what’s inside those iso files, this software has got your back!
Using Isoinfo is pretty simple. You just type in: isoinfo [options] [file]
. Easy, right? This program is part of a group of basic iso9660 utilities, which are cleverly named iso*.
The file iso9660.h
comes from Eric Youngdale's mkisofs package. There’s also a program called isoinfo.c
, bundled with xcdroast, that’s actually based on Eric Youngdale's isodump.c
. However, just to clear things up, these programs aren't linked to my isotools or my version of isoinfo.c
.
You can think of Youngdale's program as a way to list or extract the contents of an iso9660 image or CD. Nowadays, you could also use commands like ls/cp
after mounting it. But if you want something straightforward, Isoinfo is the way to go!
If you’re ready to dive in, here’s how you get it set up:
./configure
make
make install
