iWash

iWash is a simple and effective software solution that immediately clears the cookies and cache in your web browser, in order to eliminate traces of visited websites. It offers support only for Internet Explorer and comes in handy especially when you share your computer with other users.

The installation operation is rapid and uneventful, and doesn't require special input from the user. When it is done, you are welcomed by a standard interface, consisting of a single window with a "what you see is what you get" layout, as there are no other options available, aside from the ones listed in the primary screen.

Clearing the IE cache and cookies is done with the simple click of a button. Unfortunately, iWash doesn't provide a list with the items to be deleted, or even after the task is done.

It is possible to schedule the program to run automatically at a specific time interval (given in minutes). In order to make this option active, you have to start the iWash monitoring process. Unfortunately, the tool does not come equipped with an option to run in the background, minimized to the system tray area.

The tiny tool is very light on the system resources, using a minimal amount of CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and carries out tasks swiftly and error-free. iWash did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs throughout our evaluation. However, it has not been updated for a very long time. We would have liked to see support for additional web browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox), along with other advanced options (e.g. make iWash run at system startup automatically).
