Downloading videos from the Internet is a way to enrich your locally stored collection and have clips within reach anytime you want to watch them, without facing playback problems. There are many utilities that can assist you in grabbing online videos and saving them to your computer. One of them is called J-Tube.

This simplistic application processes any YouTube video URL and generates download links for various file formats and playback qualities, all depending on the available online content.

At first start, you are provided with instructions on how to use the application, not that they are actually required for any user who has used a computer at least once. Your only task is to paste or type in manually the URL of the video you want to save to your hard drive and press the button designated for generating the download links.

A small preview of the video immediately appears, along with a structured table comprising all the available links, the video type, resolution and quality. Clicking the 'Download' button of each entry automatically sends the link to the default web browser or download management application, which further processes the request.

J-Tube keeps a record of the links you accessed in its memory, allowing you to view the links to a previously grabbed video anytime you need to and start the download process again, without having to paste the original URL.

While it cannot download the videos by itself, J-Tube has some advantages that makes it worth a try, namely ease of use and fast speed, which sets it apart from other similar tools that can help you save online videos on the local  PC.
