XML is becoming more and more the standard format for transmiting and showcasing information. As such, the need to find a way and convert into a different more user-friendly format, such as PDF also increases. XSL-FO  is a standard for converting XML to PDF and other output formats.

XSL-FO files can be executed using an open-source product named Apache FOP. J4L FO designer is the type of editor that converts the file to look exactly as you see it (also known as WYSIWYG). These files are used for creating PDF and other formats from XML documents.
