JASP (Just Another file Split Program) is a simple-to-use application that gives you the possibility to split large files into smaller parts by size. It features advanced settings that can be easily figured out.
After a fast setup operation that shouldn't give you any trouble, the software tool creates an icon in the systray and gets minimized there on exit.
The main configuration panel has a neatly organized structure. After indicating the file you want to split, it's possible to specify the destination folder and split size between 1.44MB floppy disk, 700MB CD-ROM, and custom (bytes).
The number of split parts and amount of cut size are shown by JASP, so you can make any necessary adjustments before proceeding with the operation. On task completion, the tool also creates a batch file that automatically reconstructs the original file using the smaller parts, and places it in the same location.
As far as program settings are concerned, you can disable the systray minimization, shell integration and tooltip display, set the default destination directory to the last used one and specify the limit of recent folders to keep, as well as create new profiles with the split size.
It carried out tasks swiftly in our tests without triggering the operating system to hang, crash or prompt error dialogs. As we expected, it didn't put a strain on the overall performance of the machine, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. Help documentation is available.
JASP offers a simple solution and approachable options for splitting large files by size and quickly merging the pieces together. It can be handled with ease by all types of users.
