The primary gate that leads to the information superhighway is a web browser. Although data can be sent and received without one, applications like JD Web Surfer make sure you can access your favorite web pages and enjoy all they have to offer in a comfortable environment.
The application takes little time to install on your computer, and the set of features can be checked out before you even realize. However, regardless of the PC or Windows version you’re using, you need to make sure .NET Framework is installed as well, since it was built on this platform.
Upon launch, you might end up scratching your head for a while. This is one particular scenario where simplicity can be confusing. In other words, the upper toolbar is only equipped with a few buttons besides the address bar and search field, while no other function leads to advanced or other features of any kind.
Your suspicions are quickly confirmed, with the application presenting a pretty shallow set of features. The upper toolbar literally holds all features you get to work with, and apart from navigation buttons, the URL bar, and, surprisingly, a search field you can only use with one engine, there’s nothing else.
One might consider a good web browser is not defined by a large set of features, but navigation is yet another weak point of JD Web Surfer. Regardless of your connection type, it can take forever to load even a simple page, and when it does, you might get various script errors, because of faulty development.
Sure enough, you can open web pages in different instances, but there’s no tab implementation, and besides the time it takes to load a page, resource consumption also has a saying in the lack of any practicality.
All things considered, we come to the conclusion that JD Web Surfer is merely at the beginning of becoming a web browser, missing many of the features even a simple browser needs to be equipped with, let alone support for advanced operations. Even speed leaves a lot more to be desired, while resource consumption is too much for what’s provided in return.
