If there’s one useful thing Windows Vista brought about is the gadgets system. Multiple services such as Google and Yahoo! also developed dedicated engines, but gadgets can’t be used on other engines besides the one they’re intended to. For instance, JoJo Timer makes it possible to keep a timer on the desktop to find out how much time is left until a specific event.
It comes in a lightweight package, with installation done almost instantly. Note that running it on other Windows iterations other than Vista, or 7 requires a dedicated gadget emulator such as Thoosje Sidebar. Once installed, it immediately shows up on the desktop.
The timer is blank by default, but configurations are easy enough to be handed by beginners, and experienced individuals alike. The new task can be fitted with a new name, while other requirement fields ask for an exact date, as well as time specified in hours, minutes, and seconds.
Once configured, the timer starts, showing the number of days left, as well as remaining time of the current day. An alert can’t be set, so it needs to be kept on the desktop at all times. Just like any other gadget, it can be easily dragged around the desktop to a suitable position, have opacity level set, or forced to stay on top of everything else.
