Markdown is a desirable, almost necessary feature in a text editor nowadays, simply because it helps people organize their text that much better. Whether it is the bold or italic styles or merely the convenience of being able to convert your writing to HTML, the toolset is nice to have.
It's no surprise that such editors are sought after, and Jovial Markdown can be your trusty markdown tool that handles your text without a hitch, thanks to its simple but welcoming interface and easy-to-use functions
It's easy to get started with this app: unpack it, run the executable, and type away. No installation involved. The interface is minimalist and clean, and users shouldn't have any problems operating the program.
Making use of the Markdown functions is just as simple, and there are a few ways to go about it. You can press the icons at the top to bold, italicize, or underscore your text, but you can also use the CTRL+B hotkey for bold, CTRL+I for italic, and CTRL+U for underscore. A third way involves using the codes of those functions — and to bold, and so forth.
Upon writing something in the left panel of the interface, you'll have to convert the text to Markdown. You can do this by clicking the dedicated pink icon at the top or pressing the F5 hotkey.
Hovering over the Templates tab will bring up a context menu where users can access presets for a calendar, changelog, meeting notes, as well as a to-do list.
The Calendar and To-Do templates didn't do anything for us, while the ones for Changelog and Meeting Notes provided a deeper look into how to structure one's text via Markdown. All of these are reusable, so users can freely edit them and type in their own text. When it comes to exporting, users can opt to save their text as a .txt file or as a .html one.
Jovial Markdown makes for an interesting Markdown editor: its implementation may be a bit sluggish sometimes, but its foundation is pretty solid regardless. It's the first beta release, so things should only be looking up from here.
