The trend of using a password manager is certainly one of the more positive things to come out in the last few years. Password managers are nothing new, but as more and more users adopt them, solutions like such become more prevalent. This ultimately leads to more secure, harder-to-crack accounts, which is a net benefit for anyone not concerned with hacking or brute-forcing.

At their core, password managers are simple to understand. Provide a practical interface, where the user can add their authentication details for various websites, and offer them a password generator function to further security. JPass Password Manager is an app that features all of that, and whose simplicity and portability might be just what some are looking for.

The tool cuts to the chase insofar as it allows you to access your data without any intricacies. Its interface is both practical and compact, and users can start introducing their authentication details right away by creating entries.

When creating an entry, you'll have to specify a few things if you want everything to go smoothly. A title for your account, the URL to the relevant website, the username or email, and password. You can also provide a note, which can be whatever you want. It's worth noting that you can give as much or as little information as you want, though brevity isn't usually the way to go in these cases.

When adding a new entry, you are presented with the option to generate a password. The generator is quite robust here, as it allows you to influence the algorithm. Specify a length, toggle upper and lower case letters, use numbers (or don't), type in the custom symbols you want to factor into the generation, and generate a resilient password.

When all is done, it's time to save your data for later access. You can import, as well as export XML data, but you can also save it as a .jpass file, which is a proprietary extension. You'll have to input a password, which will be used to access that file when importing it, which you'll do quite often, as the app requires users to re-import their data file at each bootup. This coincides with the portable nature of the software, as users can simply copy the executable .jar file onto a USB stick, along with their .jpass data file, and take their accounts with them.

JPass Password Manager is as simple as you can get for a password manager, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Users looking for a simple and practical solution can thus give this one a try.
