JXLStoKML

JXLStoKML is a lightweight Windows application built specifically for helping you convert XLS files to KML file format. It comes in handy especially if the XLS files comprise data with addresses, as you can easily change them into waypoints using the Google Earth software or any utility that offers support for the KML file format.

This is a portable program, so it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.

You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you to need to perform conversion operations on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps.

Since this is a Java-based utility, you should make sure you have previously installed the working environment on the computer, otherwise you cannot run the tool.

JXLStoKML gives you the possibility to upload files into the working environment using the built-in browse button, so you cannot rely on the “drag and drop” support.

In order to complete the conversion process, you are required to specify a saving directory and enter a filename. The tool offers support for a log, which provides information about the entire process and possible errors.

On the downside, you cannot pick a default target location and perform batch processing operations for processing multiple XLS files at the same time. During our testing we have noticed that JXLStoKML carries out a task quickly and without errors. However, just like any similar Java tools, it is not quite friendly with system resources, so the overall performance of the computer may be hampered.

JXLStoKML offers a simple software solution when it comes to converting XLS files to KML file format on the breeze, and is suitable especially for rookies.
