K Menu Gnome is a cool project that brings together K Menu with Gnome folders and adds some extra icons for KDE 3.2 or later. It’s pretty handy if you’re using both KDE and Gnome on your computer.
Now, you might be wondering, why would anyone want to install both KDE and Gnome? Well, some of us share our machines with friends or family who have their favorite desktop environment. Or maybe you're like me and just love trying out different setups!
If you've got both installed, you probably noticed the K Menu can get a little crowded with submenus. Some distributions try to clean things up by hiding certain apps from each environment. But honestly, that can be frustrating! I want easy access to my Gnome apps when I’m in KDE and vice versa.
The goal of K Menu Gnome is to help keep everything organized while still letting you use the apps you love from both environments. It’s all about making sure your desktop stays neat without losing access to anything you need.
It’s worth noting that K Menu Gnome might not play nice with heavily customized distributions like Mandriva, SUSE, or UHU-Linux. So if you're using one of those, you might run into some issues getting it set up.
If you’re ready to tidy up your menus and enjoy a smoother experience across KDE and Gnome, check out K Menu Gnome here!
