A Bit About GNOME

GNOME is a big project aimed at creating an entire desktop environment from free software. Basically, it’s all about making the graphical user interface (GUI) that sits on top of your computer’s operating system. This includes lots of stuff like development frameworks, picking out application software for users, and managing how apps launch and handle files.

The Heart of GNOME

This project is part of the GNU Project and works great with different Unix-like operating systems, especially Linux. It's also part of the Java Desktop System in Solaris if you're into that!

The Meaning Behind GNOME

The name originally stood for GNU Network Object Model Environment, but we just call it GNOME now! They really focus on keeping things simple and user-friendly so everything “just works.” If you want more info or want to download Ken's Icons, check out their page!
