Accessibility is one of the features Windows tries to shine with. It allows you to organize your workspace in different ways, and even launch apps with hotkeys, from shortcuts, or the taskbar. However, for more diversity, you need to rely on applications like LaunchTab, letting you keep the desktop clean, and store all things you need to launch in cool, sliding tabs.

As the name suggests, the application creates multiple tabs, which only show up on user interaction, displaying all content you can fully configure. There are several visual skins to choose from, as well as the edge of the screen to place them. A tab is simply created by specifying a name.

However, in order for a tab to be of any use, you need to add some items. Doing so only requires you to drag any kind of file over a tab, with it being automatically stored there. By default, the menu neatly slides in to reveal the entire content. File you add can’t be customized in terms of visuals, but these are shown with the exact name and icon they’re fitted with by default.

The application allows you to create multiple tabs, and comes in handy to launch games, and programs for instance. Unfortunately, web pages still need to be accessed through your web browser, because you can’t add links in tabs.

Most configuration options are related to visuals. On the one hand, these can simply mean whether tabs to stay on top of everything else, but it can get disturbing to accidentally pop up a tab when hovering the cursor over it. However, there is an option which allows you to only open tabs through mouse click to bypass this issue.

LaunchTab is a cool desktop enhancement which allows you to keep the desktop space only to display your collection of wallpapers. There might not be a large variety of skins, but are polished, and enough to make it blend with any environment. It’s easy to configure, and use, being worth at least a try overall.
