Lexical FOR MAC

Lexical is a simple yet fun word game that reduces everything to the game board and your knowledge of English language. The game comes with two playing modes but keeps track of your score only for the current match (you cannot view historical data).

As you launch the game, you are welcomed by its main window where you get to choose the type of game you want to play: Classic (60 seconds - how many words?) or Golden Letter (you must use the only golden letter on the board in every word).

The mail Lexical panel also provides access to a brief help presentation that shows you how you can select and swap tiles, how to swipe a word and the possible directions, and the number of points you get for each letter.

Note that if you are using colored letters in your word you get different perks, such as doubling the score for the tile or for the word, or getting additional time (10 seconds). The same rules apply when you are playing in Golden Letter mode.

Via the Lexical Settings panel you can change the game board’s background design and the font used for the letters, even though the options are quite limited (4 different designs in each case).

Once you start a new game, Lexical does not allow you to go back but keep in mind that each match is limited to 60 seconds. Most of the Lexical window is covered by the game board, yet you can also see your current score, the timer, and the number of words swiped so far.

Moreover, as you start selecting letters, Lexical will commence displaying your word separately: the app will take the word only after you release your mouse, so make sure you have covered all the letters you want to use.

To conclude, Lexical provides challenging puzzles in a minimalist user interface that has you focusing on what it matters: the game. However, given the short time allocated for each session, you must learn to think fast.

Since Lexical keeps track only of the latest game, you will not stress about your performance or rank: the point of the game is to remove all distractions and just have fun with the English language.
