Linkwitz-Riley Crossover Calculator is a lightweight and portable piece of software that can be used to quickly determine the crossover frequency, resistance or capacitance of a Linkwitz-Riley filter. The tool gives you the possibility to effortlessly enter known values.
The entire program's wrapped in a tiny .exe file that can be double-clicked to bring up the main app window right away. Since it doesn't have to be installed and has no prerequisite software involved, you can keep the calculator stored in your collection of portable utilities and fire it up whenever you need it.
Unsurprisingly, the program doesn't put special emphasis on appearance, preferring to focus on functionality instead. Thus, it adopts a standard-looking window with a well-organized layout.
To make a calculation, it's necessary to enter two known values when it comes to the X'over frequency (Hz), preferred resistance (kOhms) and preferred capacitance (nf).
Calculations are carried out instantly with the click of a button, so you can check out results on the bottom side, along with a circuit diagram. If you want to further make adjustments, you can enable 12db/Octave mode as well as select low or high pass.
Unfortunately, there are no options implemented for exporting the data or circuit diagram to file, copying them to the clipboard, or printing them. On the other hand, you can consult a table of commonly preferred component values, which are considered to be standard within a particular component range.
Taking everything into account, Linkwitz-Riley Crossover Calculator delivers a simple and straightforward solution for calculating the crossover frequency, resistance or capacitance of a Linkwitz-Riley filter. However, it doesn't have options for exporting the data to use in external applications.
