Nowadays, there is no shortage of applications that can display weather information and forecasts on your screen, not to mention desktop clocks. If you haven’t yet found the right one, however, LittleSky might be worth a try.
It is a very simple application, based on Java, that displays a clock on your desktop along with useful weather information. It isn’t the most advanced program of its kind, but it may prove to be a good choice for many users.
As long as Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is available on your PC, you can launch the application as soon as it is downloaded. The configuration file is stored in the same folder, so you can easily take it with you if you wish to use the program on another computer.
First and foremost, you need to provide your coordinates, which are necessary for calculating sunrise/sunset times and requesting weather data. Next, an OpenWeatherMap API key is required, and you need to create an account on the website in order to get one.
As you can see from the screenshots, LittleSky sports a simplistic, somewhat outdated UI design. Some alternative themes would certainly be welcome, but none are currently available.
You can choose which elements should be displayed in the widget, should you not want to see information about the sky status or the current temperature. Speaking of which, it would be great if some alternative display modes for temperature were added.
When it comes down to it, LittleSky doesn't offer an extensive array of features, but the upside is that it doesn’t need to be installed on your PC and can be used on the go.
