Loki Setup is a handy installer program made especially for games. You can use it on almost any UNIX-like system. Right now, it gives you an ncurses-based GUI for console or server installs. If you're using X-Windows, you'll get to enjoy the GTK+ interface instead. Here's a quick list of platforms that Loki Setup works on:
Loki Patch is a collection of tools designed to create binary patches. You can use these either alone or together with loki_update.
The Loki Update program is another great tool for game updates, which also runs on pretty much any UNIX-like platform. Similar to Loki Setup, it supports a console interface for easy updates without interaction. If you're using X-Windows, you'll see the cool GTK+ interface. You can check out screenshots of the GTK+ interface here and here.
The tools like loki_setup, loki_patch, and loki_update depend on something called loki_setupdb. This xml-based database keeps track of installs and versions among other things.
If you want to check out these projects, you can easily do so through CVS and Subversion by following these simple steps:
cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.icculus.org:/cvs/cvsroot login (the password is "anonymous")
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.icculus.org:/cvs/cvsroot co loki_setup
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.icculus.org:/cvs/cvsroot co loki_setupdb
svn co svn://svn.icculus.org/loki_patch
svn co svn://svn.icculus.org/loki_update
