Organizer tools are more and more common these days, and thanks to their rather simple nature and usability, people have started adopting them into their daily lives. It's simple to jot a thought down or create a to-do list to keep you on top of your schedule, so it's no surprise that tools promoting thoughtful time management are more widely used and developed.

LotOfThings takes a bit of a different approach by providing a practical solution for those looking for function over form: add everything you want to keep track of, and do so in more ways than one.

This one is perhaps as practical as you'll get for an organizer-type tool. The installation is pretty much automatic and requires no input from the end user, and the developer also offers an install-free version via a portable solution.

Right off the bat, the program is very forthright with how it operates: you interact with the Add a thing option, and you start off by adding fields. These fields work as overarching projects of some sort, to which you can adjoin smaller, step-by-step-type tasks. The functionality of these fields extends far and wide thanks to the multiple Data Type options, which serve to influence the way a task is handled.

There's quite the variety to make use of: be it a string, number, boolean, color, datetime, slider, textarea, or selectbox type, these numerous Data Types serve to enhance the versatility of the tool. As an example, I was able to create a grocery list, wherein I was able to note down the quantities to purchase through the use of the slider type.

Alternatively, I could have also used a textarea, string, or number type to note things down the usual way. The idea is that there are multiple ways through which users can accomplish the same thing: the app doesn't lock you into a specific way of organizing your stuff.

Reminders can also be set, and you can keep track of them all through the Reminder List. You can choose to be notified of a certain thing, and you can also attach a note to said reminder.

LotOfThings is an organizer tool that certainly packs a lot of versatility into its kit: there's a slight learning curve to attune to at the start, but once you get used to it, you'll enjoy the numerous functions on offer.
