What is lpar2rrd FOR LINUX?

lpar2rrd

lpar2rrd is a super handy, free, and open-source tool that lives on the web. It helps you whip up graphs showing how your LPARs (that’s short for logical partitions) are doing over time. You can check out real-time CPU usage and see trends for IBM Power servers. It’s designed especially for HMC-based micro-partitioned systems that share a CPU pool.

Collecting Data Made Easy

This software doesn’t just stop at graphs! It also gathers all the details about your LPARs and managed systems—like their logical and physical setups—and keeps track of any changes happening there. Whether you’re dealing with VIOS, AS400, Linux, or AIX partitions, it’s got you covered. Plus, it doesn’t need any agents; it pulls everything from IVM, SDMC, or HMC.

Features That Shine

So, what makes lpar2rrd stand out? For starters, it supports a whole bunch of different LPARs and operating systems. You can create charts from the data you gather and even set up a cool menu-driven web interface to view those charts along with logs and configurations. Need to access HMC servers? No problem—it supports SSH keys for that too! And guess what? You can see total memory usage for each managed system right at your fingertips!

User-Friendly Design

The app is designed to show the last 100 changes in configuration and state for all managed systems and their LPARs. Installation? Easy peasy! Configuring it is straightforward too—you won’t have to manage much when adding or removing LPARs.

Historical Data at Your Fingertips

By default, lpar2rrd generates graphs that cover one year of historical utilization data. But if you want more than that, no worries! You can easily tweak it to pull in over a year’s worth of CPU usage stats. The best part? It automatically loads historical data collected on the HMC into RRDTool databases.

A Powerful Back End

This program is written in UNIX Shell and Perl languages and comes as a single universal source archive. It's designed to run smoothly on any Linux distribution—supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit instruction sets!
