What is LXAppearance FOR LINUX?

LXAppearance

LXAppearance is a free and open-source tool made just for GNU/Linux systems. It's perfect for those who want to switch up their desktop themes while using the LXDE desktop environment.

Customize Your Desktop with Ease

This handy application lets you pick your favorite GTK+ theme and icon theme. You can even install new icon themes, choose your favorite font, and change how the toolbar looks—all in real-time! So, you'll see all your changes immediately in the preview area.

User-Friendly Interface

The user interface is designed to be simple and follows the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines. On the left side, there's a sidebar where you'll find all your installed GTK+ themes. It makes picking your favorite theme or icon easy!

Preview Area

The preview area takes up about 70% of the window space. Here, you can see how your selected theme looks and make adjustments like choosing different icon themes and fonts. When you're happy with everything, just hit the “Apply” button!

Compatibility Across Platforms

LXAppearance is built mainly for the LXDE (Lightweight X11 Desktop Environment) but works on any open-source desktop that supports the GTK+ toolkit. It's written entirely in C and uses GTK+ for its graphical interface.

Easy Installation

You can download LXAppearance here, or grab it from Softpedia or its official site as a universal sources archive. It usually comes bundled with the LXDE desktop environment too!

Supported Distributions

Installing this program is a breeze on many popular GNU/Linux distributions since you can find pre-built binary packages in their software repositories. Plus, it supports both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware platforms.
