MacTubes is a super handy app for Mac OS X that makes it easy to play and download YouTube videos. It has a simple and clean interface, so you won’t feel lost trying to figure it out!
When you open MacTubes, you’ll see the main window where you can browse and create playlists. You can switch between list view and thumbnail view, which is pretty neat! Plus, if you're curious about a video, just open the Info window. It’ll show you all sorts of details like the title, author, video URL, and even comments from other users.
The built-in search engine is really useful for finding videos quickly. Just type in a few keywords and it’ll pull up what you need. And if you're feeling picky, use the Filter feature to narrow down your results even more!
Once you've found your clip, you can play it right in MacTubes. You can also search for related videos or other uploads by the same creator. If you want to keep it for later, adding it to one of your playlists or downloading it is super easy too! You can save videos as FLV, MP4, or even HD formats with resolutions like 720p or 1080p.
The built-in player does playback videos but keep in mind that it's not always in high resolution. Sometimes when you're in full-screen mode, it doesn’t fill the entire screen either. But no worries! You can choose another player through the Preferences window to fix this little hiccup.
The playlist feature works great! Use MacTubes as your music player by creating playlists filled with your favorite tunes and artists. It’s perfect for jamming while you work! You can sort your playlists by item number, author name, time, views count, rating, or date—so everything stays organized.
If you're looking to tweak things a bit more, head over to the Preferences window where you can limit search results and enable Safe Search. You can also set up where all those downloads go!
