MacWise is a super user-friendly app for Mac that has a clean and simple design. It’s great for emulating different terminals like Prism, TV925, VT100, VT220, Viewpoint, Wyse 50, Wyse 60, and Wyse 370. So whether you're doing some coding or just need to connect to a server, it's got your back!
Getting Started with MacWise
To kick things off with MacWise, you’ll first need to install it. Just drag and drop the app icon into your Applications folder—easy peasy! When you open the app for the first time, it also shows the Telnet Quick Start document. This handy guide gives you all the info you need to navigate through the app.
Selecting Your Terminal
Right away, you’ll want to choose which terminal you want to use from the Emulate menu. After that, it's time to connect! MacWise supports several connection types: serial/modem, telnet, secure shell (SSH), or Kermit. Plus, if you're into Unix systems, you can easily log in to the Mac Unix Shell.
Connecting to Host Computers
To connect to a host computer with MacWise, you'll need a few details: the host's TCP/IP address, the type of terminal you're using, and an available port number. You can also turn on options like verbose login or Unix raw mode if you'd like.
Customizing Your Connection
If you're feeling fancy and enable tc shell mode, you can customize your connection even more! Just open up the “Advanced Options” panel where you'll see a list of supported parameters along with their effects when activated.
User-Friendly Function Keys
MacWise makes it easy to use function keys too! You can either hit them on your keyboard or click on buttons at the bottom of the main window. The cool part? These function keys are programmable! So go ahead and add any special functions that make life easier for you.
Manage Multiple Sessions
This app isn’t just about connecting; it lets you do plenty of actions via terminal too! You can send commands, transfer files, run scripts—you name it!
