Brain teaser games are always an entertaining pastime, especially if you want to relax while exercising your deduction skills: Maxit proposes a simple gameplay that can lead to quite complex puzzles.

The Maxit numbers game is an open source project that can be played only in single player mode, against the computer. However, given the size of the game boards and the multiple difficulty levels, the game has all it needs to capture your interest.

Finding your way around the Maxit game is quite easy given the streamlined workflow: the main window represents the game board, while the status bar menus provide quick access to most functions.

Maxit provides support for 2 players: Player1 is represented by the user, while the moves for the Player2 are handled by the computer. The score is updated automatically for each player, and you cannot change their names.

The Maxit game rules are fairly simple: you can select items that are placed in the same column or row as your opponent’s last piece. Each game token comes with a numerical value which will be added to your score: the player that has the biggest score when there are no other moves possible, wins the match.

To make things more interesting, you have the option to adjust the games difficulty level (easy, normal, or difficult), or the game board size (4X4, 5X5, 6X6, or 7X7). Moreover, you can change the viewing mode for the pieces (2D or 3D), you can animate the pieces’ movement, or you can change the interface theme.

Maxit proposes a gameplay with simple rules, but you need to be able to think strategically if you want to win: it is important to take into account your opponent’s next move in order to correctly deduct the best choice in every situation.
