MCDungeon FOR MAC

Designed with Minecraft fans in mind, MCDungeon is an interesting Python based tool that procedurally generates a large variety of dungeons in an already existing Minecraft map.

In order to start taking advantage of what MCDungeon can offer, you must have the latest Minecraft version installed on your Mac, and then drag and drop the “launcher.command” file from its archive onto the Terminal.app.

Once this is done, you can add new, regenerate or delete dungeons and treasure hunts on the current map, you can view a list with all the treasure hunts and dungeons already on the map, as well as generate OverViewer POI files for dungeons and treasure hunts.

MCDungeon bundles a feature that automatically finds good locations on the map for dungeons based on range, size and depth parameters, a mode that fills nearby natural caves with monsters, and optionally, a feature that places an exit portal at the bottom of the dungeons that helps you teleport back to the surface.

What’s more, for the adventure’s sake, MCDungeon places chests with prizes in hard to access places, mob spawners throughout the dungeon, and random secret traps. Also, MCDungeon can generate room layouts, and fill them with random hallways, floors, room features, and ruins.

However, because the software overwrites Minecraft map data, it is possible that your map data may be damaged or corrupted, therefore, it is highly advisable that you never run MCDungeon against a map that is currently loaded and also that you back-up your maps and game progress.

Taking all things into consideration, if you are looking to improve your Minecraft experience by adding procedurally generated dungeons to your maps, as well as add a little bit of fun to Minecraft’s gameplay, then MCDungeon is the exactly the tool for the job.

It should be noted though that everything will be fine and dandy as long as you remember to always use MCDungeon with copies and not with your original map files.
