Megawords is a super handy app for Mac OS X. It lets you search for anagrams, rhymes, and even solve crosswords using detailed dictionaries online and offline.

This app pulls information from the SOWPOD and US (TWL) dictionaries, or you can use both! You can explore all sorts of dictionaries like The Collaborative International Dictionary of English, V.E.R.A, WordNet, Moby Thesaurus, and many more. Overall, it gives you access to over 400,000 words.

User-Friendly Interface

The user interface is pretty simple. Megawords has a basic design that's easy to work with. You'll see a search bar right up front along with a list of word results. Each result shows how many letters are in the word or its strength if it's a rhyme. Plus, there's a definitions pane to help you out!

Different Modes to Use

There are three cool modes in this app: Anagram, Crossword/Wildcard, and Rhyme. In Anagram mode, you can find all possible anagrams for any word you type in. The Crossword mode helps you figure out words based on letters you already know. For example, if you type "s…e" or s/e (where "." stands for one letter and "/" represents several letters), it'll help you out!

Rhyme Mode Magic

The Rhyme mode is where things get fun! It shows all the words that rhyme with what you've typed and even tells you how closely they sound alike with percentages. This feature is perfect for finding rhymes for songs or poems.
