This app lets you check out the YouTube homepage and search for any video you want. But heads up! It doesn’t let you paste text into the search box or open special links, so unlisted videos will be hard to find.

You can log in with your YouTube account and check out what's trending right now. It's a great way to keep up with popular videos without any hassle!

Light on Resources

When we tested MenuTube, it used about 25% of a CPU core and less than 200 MB of RAM. This makes it an awesome choice compared to those heavy browsers when you're trying to watch a video or listen to a podcast while multitasking.

User-Friendly Features

The main window can stay on top of other apps, and it’s resizable too! Just open up Preferences by clicking on the sandwich menu at the top—easy peasy!

Control Your Playback

MenuTube also works great with your Mac's media keys! You can play or pause videos, skip forward or back, and even use a special hotkey (⌘ + ⌥ + Y) to toggle the window without breaking a sweat.

A Few Drawbacks

A little downside? MenuTube doesn’t remember where you left off when you close it. So next time you open it, you'll start from scratch at YouTube's homepage. Plus, if you hide the playing window, it won't remember its last position either.

The Bottom Line

All in all, MenuTube is an easy-to-use client for watching YouTube right from your Mac's menu bar. It’s lighter on resources and supports media keys better than using YouTube through a browser. Still, there are some areas that could use improvement down the line.
