Spotify is pretty awesome, but the official desktop app is lackluster, to say the least. It has minimal integration with macOS, so you have to bring up the UI for almost everything, including changing the volume, liking songs, or adding them to playlists.
Say you're listening to your Discover Weekly, you hear a cool song, and you want to add it to a permanent playlist. To do that, you have to open Spotify, right-click the song, and select the playlist from a drop-down menu. Not fun.
With Mick Tagger, just hit CMD+Shift+Space, type the playlist name, and press Enter. The track will be added to the playlist without duplication or create a new one if it doesn't exist.
While the main function is adding songs to playlists, Mick Tagger also allows you to quickly manage playlists in Spotify.
It helps in keeping playlists enjoyable by removing frequently skipped tracks.
Users can benefit from Mick Tagger's ability to create new mixes and control Spotify volume directly, improving the overall listening experience.
Some improvements that could be made include the ability to hide the app from the Dock and keep it running in the background or in the menu bar.
