RTTY, or Radio Teletype, is a digital communication mode used by amateur radio operators for exchanging messages over radio frequencies. Setting up the program to decode the radio signals can be a lengthy task, especially as you need to pay attention to several aspects. First, ensure the cable from your radio's audio output is correctly connected to your PC's sound card input. Afterward, verify that app's Control Panel, Macro Buttons, FFT Display, and XY Scope options are selected and remember to set FFT Width to 500 Hz initially.

At this point, you can watch for tuning indicators. As a general rule, if the green signal indicator goes above the squelch threshold, gibberish characters will appear in the receive window, indicating successful signal reception. Tune slowly across the RTTY signal to avoid missing it, while also making sure that the audio level from your radio is sufficient for MMTTY to recognize the signal.
