MultiGet is a handy download manager made with C++. It has a user-friendly interface that runs on wxWidgets. This software supports both HTTP and FTP protocols, which covers most people's needs when downloading files. Plus, it allows you to manage multiple downloads at once using multi-threading across different servers.
One of the cool features of MultiGet is its ability to resume downloads if the web server allows it. If you want, you can also change the number of threads while your current task is still running—no need to stop! It supports various proxy types too, including SOCKS 4, 4a, 5 proxies, and both FTP and HTTP proxies.
In version 0.8.0, MultiGet introduced something called P2SP (Peer-to-Server Protocol). This lets you download files from several servers at the same time and combine the data into one file. It’s a real time-saver because it makes your downloads much faster!
You can also switch languages in MultiGet! It supports both Chinese and English interfaces, automatically choosing the best option for you based on your settings.
This software has been tested on various systems like Mac OS X, Windows 2000, Ubuntu distributions (like Kubuntu and Xubuntu), Fedora Core 5, OpenSUSE 10.4, Mandriva 2007, PCLinuxOS, CentOS 4.4, Puppy Linux 2.0, Xandros, Edubuntu, RedFlag Workstation 5, MagicLinux, Debian-based systems like Dubuntu and Arch Linux as well as FreeBSD!
