Multiplayer Canasta is a fun and challenging card game that you can play with three friends, making it a great way to spend some time together. In this game, you and the player across from you team up as partners! You use two decks of cards along with four jokers to keep things interesting.

Getting Started with Multiplayer Canasta

At the beginning of each round, everyone gets dealt 11 cards. Then, one card is flipped from the stockpile to kick off the discard pile. This setup gets everyone ready to make their moves!

The Wild Cards and Melding

In Multiplayer Canasta, 2s and jokers act as wild cards. The main goal here is to create melds—this means grouping together three or more cards of the same rank. You can use up to two wild cards in each meld but make sure you have at least two natural cards (those are non-wild ones).

Your Turn: How It Works

When it’s your turn, you have a couple of options. You can draw the top card from the stockpile, try to form melds if possible, and then discard one card into the discard pile. Alternatively, you can pick the top card from the discard pile. If you do that, you'll need to use it in a meld with your hand or existing melds on the table before taking all those discarded cards.

Scoring Points in Multiplayer Canasta

The total score plays an important role in determining how many points are needed for your first meld during a hand: it's 50 points if your team has less than 1500 points total; 90 points if below 3000; and finally 120 points if your team hits 3000 or more points. The game wraps up when one team surpasses 5000 points—whoever has more points at that moment wins!
