More often than not, compressed files can come in handy when you are running low on disk space or sharing files online. Having a tool that enables you to compress and decompress files whenever necessary is a must even for the average Windows user.
NanaZip is an open-source 7-Zip derivate, meaning that it is a fork of the well-known file archiver. Take note that the app is in its early stages, so what you see now may not be the final product.
As previously mentioned, the tool is basically a fork of 7-Zip and hence, it comes with all the extensive support and features of the popular program, including here compressing and decompressing features along with encryption and numerous file management tools. If you want to make the switch from 7-Zip, the developer has included an execution alias for helping users to migrate.
As far as the file support is concerned, the tool is compatible with a plethora of files, such as MSI, NTFS, RAR, RPM, UDF or CHM, just to name a few. Moreover, the app comes with support for Brotli, Fast-LZMA2, Lizard, LZ4, LZ5 and Zstandard codecs.
Since the app is still in the development phase, it has some known issues that are going to be addressed in later releases. For instance, sometimes you may not see the app in the context menu following the installation. To resolve this inconvenience, you need to restart the Windows Explorer via the Task Manager.
In the eventuality that you are looking for a file archiver that is light on your resources, comes with extensive support and packs all the features a file archiver should have, then perhaps you can consider giving NanaZip a try.
