All computers on a network, or better yet over the web are recognized by their very own IP address. Sure enough no two strings can be the same, and chances are you need the value converted in other types of encodings. In this regard, Networkhelper comes with a set of tools to calculate binary, decimal, and hexadecimal correspondents of a target IP.

You can download the application and store it on a thumb drive to carry it around because there’s no installation involved to make it work. In this case registry entries don’t suffer from any changes so the health status of the target PC remains intact. However, the computer you use it on must be equipped with .NET Framework.

Although the application targets the computer’s IP address, an active Internet connection is not required. This is because the address is not automatically detected and you have to manually write it down. There are four dedicated slots, each for a corresponding group, but you need to switch to every section because jumping is not automatically done after writing values, nor is there a character limit.

Most of all, it’s best to first select the decimal style input. Additional options allow you to write down the address as binary, or hexadecimal code, but there’s little chance you know those values by heart. Additional input comes in the form of a division marker, and the possibility to protect override.

Hitting the “calculate” button fills up the preview area with different details. Structured in different sections you get to view binary, decimal, and hexadecimal values for IP, subnet, net, host, and broadcast address. Sadly, values can’t be saved to file or copied from the result panel.

To conclude, Networkhelper makes it easy to convert an IP address and its elements to different encoding formats. You can process any address without any harm done since it doesn’t rely on an active Internet connection, or actual data from the network adapter.
